To garner support for the expansion of an established landfill site that had community opposition in order to cope with increasing population demands within a growing suburb.


A community and government relations strategy was designed and implemented which focused attention on the social, economic and environmental factors behind the expansion plans and refined these into key messages for stakeholders. The comprehensive stakeholder management plan identified key influencers, with consultation and briefings organised with an aim to convey the demand for the expansion project. The project was subject to a State Administrative Tribunal hearing, so a second stage tailored communication process was engaged surrounding this occasion.


The WA Landfill Services was successful in its bid to expand its landfill project following the State Administrative Tribunal hearing.
